Monster Hunter: Wilds achieves record sales despite serious performance issues on PC
Despite serious performance challenges on PC, Monster Hunter: Wilds has set new sales records, showcasing an unexpected shift in player preferences.

Monster Hunter: Wilds launched at the end of February to overwhelmingly positive reviews, although PC players have faced significant performance issues with that version of the game. Despite these challenges, the PC platform has emerged as the leading market for Wilds, particularly in the United States.
According to Mat Piscatella of the US market analyst group Circana, "Monster Hunter: Wilds enjoyed a great launch in the US market," noting that "launch week dollar sales were the largest for a title since the debut of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6." The game topped the weekly dollar sales charts across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles.
Importantly, PC has become the dominant platform in terms of sales, marking a significant shift for a series that has historically favored console releases. Wilds is the first title in the franchise to launch simultaneously with its console versions, and many new PC fans generated by the staggered releases of World and Rise were eager to dive into Wilds from day one.
However, all versions of Monster Hunter: Wilds are plagued by performance issues, with the PC version being particularly problematic. Many players are attempting to run the game on lower-end hardware, leading to mixed reviews on Steam. Initially, the game struggled with a mostly negative reception, but it has recently managed to improve to a 60% positive rating. Nevertheless, it remains a demanding experience that can overwhelm most computers.
As fans look for ways to enhance their gaming experience, the search for the best Monster Hunter: Wilds mods continues to grow.
