Apple is taking significant steps to enhance Siri's capabilities by allowing requests to be directed to ChatGPT, providing users with more contextually relevant answers than ever before. During WWDC24, Apple software executive Craig Federighi expressed aspirations for integrating with other AI models, including Google's Gemini. New information suggests that this integration may soon become a reality.

A recent backend update introduced with the iOS 18.4 beta includes options for third-party AI models, specifically "Google" and "OpenAI." This code discovery, reported by noted code sleuth Aaron Perris, signals the potential for future enhancements, although it does not guarantee immediate integration of Gemini in the current iOS version.

Despite previous delays in the rollout of Apple Intelligence features, this update hints strongly that Gemini integration could arrive shortly—potentially in a later iOS 18 update or with the anticipated iOS 19. In line with these developments, Apple is also gearing up to release its proprietary conversational Siri model in iOS 19, indicating a renewed focus on enhancing user interaction with the virtual assistant.
