Instagram Introduces Community Chat Feature for Group Conversations
Instagram is set to launch "Community Chat," a new feature allowing group conversations with enhanced privacy and moderation options for users.

Instagram is reportedly developing a new feature called "Community Chat" that will allow users to engage in group chats with up to 250 participants. This functionality was discovered by developer Alessandro Paluzzi, known for exploring various app backends, including Threads, to uncover planned features.
With Community Chats, users will have the ability to set themes and control who can join their groups, adding a layer of privacy and customization to the experience. Unlike WhatsApp Communities, where creators can send messages to followers, every member of a Community Chat will be able to participate in the conversation actively.
Additionally, Instagram is expected to incorporate moderation features for these chats. Administrators will have the authority to remove messages and users, ensuring that community guidelines are upheld. An Instagram representative confirmed that this feature is currently an internal prototype and is not being tested outside the company at this time.
